Life in progress
Born in 1982, in Romania, Emöke Simon studied literature and philosophy in France. After a Phd in American literature sustained in 2014 at the University Paris 3 – Sorbonne Nouvelle (Gertrude Stein : Rhythm and Identity), she gradually detached herself from the universitarian context, investing the field of contemporary art, first through conference-performances. She started painting in 2016 and presented her works for the first time in March 2018 at the K'arte gallery
in Targu-Mures, Romania ( )
Her painted work is concerned with inner landscapes in movement, proposing possibilities of interaction between different textures of organicity, especially human and vegetal ones.
Whereas painting emerges in the immediacy of the gesture, before the words, writing is explored as another attempt to seize what cannot be said.
